We are so blessed with the achievements from Bonding against Adversity, helping the Economic Development in the Aldine Greenspoint area with programs focus in Healthy Living, Safety and Education. April start with a great sponsorship from the Teloloapan Supermarket we were able to set up mini health fairs trough this stores around the Houston area and have the opportunity for the second time to go with Bonding Against Adversity in different areas like southwest, Pasadena, Chemminy rock with our programs and promoting healthy living through physical activities.

Following up with our Healthy Living program East Aldine Management District, La Primavera Hall sponsors our First Annual Dia del Niño y clinica Latina with a participation more than 800 people. 300 Women were able to have a Breast Test, Pap smear, Cholesterol, Diabetes and HID test. Hundreds of children were able to have vision screenings, glucose test and blood pressure checkups.

Special thanks and recognition goes to Escamilla Elementary school and our lead Leader volunteer of the year Virginia Bazan they provide more than 500 Miracles job done by the students and they get awards from Bonding Against Adversity 12 students were recognized.

Like every sport season at Melrose Park we hosted the parade for Melrose Park to support the children to continue engage in the sports and we make the commitment to provide the medals for this season.

Bonding Against Adversity, Inc collaborated with several Hispanic Organizations helping the Rape Victim 11 year old girl from Cleveland to make sure the family and the girl will have all the resources to move on with this crime.

On April also we were part of the March to Austin to support the Texas schools and visit the Representative Armando Walle to show our disagreement for the budget cuts at the Aldine schools.

With our One on One prevention program we has this month’s our Parent Workshops working in following up with the students and the school to work in the different issues our students from the program had. We had 90% participation from the parents and we get at the point for them to know we are like a small family when they need some extra help.

We were able to find some money to stepping our Tutors with the Gas money to help them not to miss the sessions and finish the school year tutoring sessions.

Bonding hosted a Safety Workshop at Mission Falls Apartment Complex to work with the African American Community and have different activities with the children they learn and have a lot of fun.

During the month of May we continue with our year round healthy living program with the dancing classes and nutrition working in healthy living awareness. We were able to offer Mr. Gabriel Najera a Motivational Speaker to bring his message to parents and students at Hambrick. Later on we were able to have the same presentation for 900 students at Hambrick we had the feedback from students they were so impressed and motivated to make good choices in life. At the same month we were able to bring Dr. Gei from the Methodist Hospital to talk with the parents and students about Teen Pregnancy.

We tough students about how to set up their own business and make some money to keep towards education with the Lemonade day they participated and sell the Lemonade at La Primavera Hall and La Teloloapan
Supermarkets.

We were awarded with the Hispanic Healthy Coalition with the 4th place of the best Non profits working for the public Health.

BAA gives a welcome to the summer season with a Workshop at the Aldine Mail Route Library about How to say no! Gangs and bulling prevention. During June we will have our first ESL classes at the North East Community Center serving the East Aldine area. Also our first Teen Summer Camp where the teens will learn how to take care of their bodies and be healthier and happier.

We have a big challenge ahead of us but we keep working thanks to our volunteers, sponsors and Organizations like East Aldine Management District, Aldine School District, Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce, Jed’s Hardware, La Primavera Hall, Linc Houston, Supermercados La Teloloapan, Texas Children Hospital, Lone Star College, Mayor City of Houston, Harris County Hospital District, Mariana Sugg, SBM Atlantia, P2 Energy Solutions and many other organizations who help BAA to continuing with their Mission.
